Selected Works on Paper
My works on paper are a significant proportion of my body of work, across materials, scale, and processes. In this selection, a may pole, swings, and other objects of play become ongoing structural investigations. Scraps of canvas — raw or painted with magnum — are cut and collaged onto large paper substrates. Swings appear; they will become the central element of House Of Children, an installation exhibited across several sites in Poland and New York in 2004, 2006, and 2008. Some pieces I think of as “orphan drawings”: they exist as complete works in and of themselves, without repeating stylistically. Black tape, charcoal, and collage continue to be among my chosen tools. Process and materials remain in service to the content.
